Happy New Year from Viking Travel! Or if you're in Hawai'i, Hau'oli Makahiki Hou.
We put together some phenomenal trips for clients in 2019, Greenland, Barbados, Italy, South Africa, and yes, Hawai'i. In 2020 we're rolling forward with a lot more of the same.
We're starting off with some website freshening, and hey look, a new blog?! Don't worry, our main focus will forever be our clients, not fancy websites, not social media content (though do checkout my Instagram feed @avery.vt), not blogs with all the best words. We'll be making occasional posts here with travel news, destination information, or generally fun travel related content. To be honest, I really just wanted us to be more forward in showing off our human-side with a public facing forum that offers some informational value. I may or may not post some of my travel photography here as well. And I've even got some interviews with suppliers I shot last year that will get posted...eventually. Stay Tuned™!
Another new thing in 2020, we'll be hitting your email inbox again with promotions, deals, event invites, but mostly destination information. We stopped doing email "marketing" a couple years ago because I felt like everyone's getting spammed constantly with BEST DEAL EVER promo's that can be overwhelming, which is why we'll mostly be sending out *informational* content to our email list. We'll have a quick and easy way to signup on our website here shortly.
Speaking of information, the data on flight arrival/departure times from 2019 is out and Cirium has waded through it to rank the most punctual airlines and airports. I was very surprised by the list and retain some healthy skepticism on how some of the data may have been reported, or recorded. But there's one thing I knew we'd see, and something I trust, Delta is the most punctual North American carrier, and the 3rd most punctual globally. Here's an article from FlightGlobal with a rundown on the data.
I could write about all the amazing places, unique experiences, and beautiful people I met in 2019, but I think I'll leave that for when we talk in person.
I'll finish this with a photo I captured on the island of Hawai'i in November, a sunset from my room at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, since we've just sunset on 2019.
As always, thanks!
